What we do

You can find out more about the five ministries of Matumaini, by clicking on a link under "What we do" on the left hand side of this page.

The aim of Matumaini is to integrate children with disabilities into the community as far as possible thus providing them with a sense of self-worth and dignity.

The centre now includes a hostel, clinic, special unit, physiotherapy unit, and vocational training centre.

Matumaini Rehabilitation Centre is affiliated to the PEFA group (Pentecostal Evangelistic Fellowship of Africa) and works closely with the local PEFA church.

Matumaini Special Unit
Some of the children staying at the hostel are so severely handicapped that the local primary school cannot cater for their needs. The special unit was set up to allow these children to receive a primary school education.

In some cases, the children go on to integrate fully into the local primary school, though often extra tuition is required.
